We are adventurers!

I'm riding on my bike with my friends. It's birthday trip for one of them, He didn't want anything for present, so we decided to plan this trip. We are heading east to large bike festival. The classics, big scene with rock bands, tent field and large party till the end of night.

As it is when such adventures are not that common, our camping gear was gathered from cellars, attics and those view-once-per-year closets with Christmas ornaments. Bad gear shouldn't be an excuse and this time it wasn't. So we packed our bikes with all necessary gear and supplies, set our mind on a adventure and head out.

The ride is as good as ever, open road a light breeze and eagerness to go. And scenery. It's summer day with not a speck of cloud in sight. On left, plain fields, completely covered in grass, on right a forest so far away it is just a dark green line on a horizon.

Kilometers and time passes as we chat over intercom about whatever comes to our minds. Everyone is in silly/foolish moods where one word and cause 5 minutes of hysterical laughter. One thing draws our attention, just over horizon. A cloud, black as night starts to grow. At first we dismiss it, but as we ride it continues to do so.

During pit stop at gas station, it covers half of the sky. A cold wind starts to blow. We crack open phones and check the weather forecast. Seems like a massive storm is starting. Even worse it will last at least a couple of days!

"So what now?" I ask.

"Well we either suck it up and try get most of festival or bail." one of us say.

"I'm kinda not keen to be knee deep in mud for my birthday" says the pal whose birthday it was.

"..."

"We chicken out?" he asks.

"Yeaaaa" we all say.

"So... what about an evening? We're here, have some free time, we are packed with beer and other camping necessities. Grill at garage?" I ask.

There, on the spot, full of adventure spirit we turn on a dime and go back. We just covered almost 250 kilometers to just turn around and place our comfort-looking-butts in a small garage within 10 minute drive from our homes.

We arrive there in the evening, fire up the grill, crack open a beer and place birthday candle on a stake for our friend. Somewhere in the distance we see lightning strikes as we continue our talks from the ride.

"But next time... We will be adventures!" we laugh. Sure we will, with crew like that we can be anything and get our kicks from it.
